Mosquito
Culex / Aedes spp.
Mosquitoes thrive in Highveld summers and breed in any pocket of standing water — rain-water tanks, pot saucers, blocked gutters, swimming-pool covers and birdbaths. Beyond the irritation of bites, Culex and Aedes species transmit West Nile virus, dengue and chikungunya. Effective control combines breeding-source elimination, larvicide of permanent water and a perimeter residual treatment.
